The Rooster.com web site ("Site") is a service of Rooster, Inc., a Delaware
corporation ("us" or "we"). This Web Site Privacy Policy applies only to
information that we collect from this Site. This Web Site Privacy Policy does
not apply to other information that we might collect.
What information do we collect? We collect "automatic information" and "personally identifiable information." "Automatic information" is information automatically collected by our web server (which might be hosted by a third-party) that your web browser makes available whenever you visit our Site. This information might include your Internet Protocol address, the identity of your internet service provider, the type of browser that you use, and the date and time of your visit. An Internet Protocol address is a number assigned to your computer when you connect to the Internet. Our Site also uses "cookies" and "web beacons." A "cookie" is a small amount of data that is sent to your computer from a web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. When you initially visit our Site, a "cookie" is sent to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser. The cookie is read by us each time you visit our Site. A cookie will not allow us to learn any personally identifiable information (such as your real name and address) that you have not otherwise disclosed. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. You can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, some portions of our Site might not function properly without cookies. "Web beacons," also known as clear GIFs and single-pixel GIFs, are small image files that we might place on web pages and within any web-based email newsletters that we might send. Working in conjunction with cookies, web beacons allow us to accurately count the number of unique users who have visited a specific page and the number of times those pages are displayed. We can also use web beacons to let us know how many people opened a web-based email newsletter. "Personally identifiable information" is information that identifies a specific individual such as a name, postal address, e-mail address, and credit card number and data, as well as rental related information such as price paid, length of stay, purchase or refusal of travel insurance, number of properties managed, and amenities of various properties. We collect personally identifiable information that is voluntarily provided to us through the Site or that is posted on the websites of our licensees. We might associate automatic information with personally identifiable information. In the event of such association, such automatic information will be considered personally identifiable information. Personally identifiable information does not include aggregate information that, by itself, does not allow for the identification of an individual person. How do we use and share the information that we collect? Except as described in this Privacy Policy, we do not sell, rent or trade with unaffiliated third parties any personally identifiable information you provide to us through the Site, nor do we share such information with third parties. We use personally identifiable information for the purposes for which it was collected (such as the reserving or rental of a property). In addition, we might also use personally identifiable information to send you publications and other marketing materials. We might also use personally identifiable information to respond to e-mails, provide customer support, or other similar matters. We might disclose personally identifiable information to (a) third parties performing services for or on our behalf (such as communications and/or marketing services), and/or (b) our affiliated entities who might use such information for marketing purposes. We might disclose personally identifiable information when we reasonably believe that the law requires it, and/or when we have reason to believe that disclosing such information is necessary to identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who might be causing injury to, or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally), our rights or property, other users of this Site, or anyone else who could be harmed by such activities. We might sell or buy subsidiaries, or business units. In such transactions, personally identifiable information might be one of the transferred business assets. We use non-personally identifiable information to help us run and maintain the Site, study traffic patterns and generally learn about the usage of the Site. We might also use such information for purposes of system administration, to improve the design and content of the Site, and/or to enable us to personalize your Internet experience. We might disclose non-personally identifiable information to third parties including advertisers, business partners, and sponsors, to analyze site usage and manage and improve our business relationships. Can you access your information? The Site has been designed to allow you to edit, change, correct, and/or update certain personally identifiable information that you have submitted to us through the Site. Can you access your information? We reserve the right to revise this Web Site Privacy Policy at any time. When we do, we will give you notice of the revised Web Site Privacy Policy by posting the revised Web Site Privacy Policy on the Site and by revising the "effective date" at the top of this Web Site Privacy Policy. You are responsible for regularly reviewing the current Web Site Privacy Policy. The most current version of the Web Site Privacy Policy can be reviewed by clicking on the "Privacy Policy" hypertext link located at the bottom of our web pages. Security Unfortunately, information transmitted on the Internet and/or stored on systems is not 100% secure, and we do not warrant or guarantee the security or integrity of any information transmitted to us over the Internet or stored on our systems. Wherever we collect information over the web that we consider might be sensitive in nature (such as credit card data), that information is encrypted using Secure Socket Layer software. You can verify this yourself simply by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your web browser, or looking for "https" at the beginning of the address of the web page. We do not retain credit card information after we have transmitted it in connection with your reservation.
